Dr. Peter Bösze is Professor of Gynecology with special interest in gynecologic oncology and cancer genetics. He is the Founder and Chairman of the European Academy of Gynaecological Cancer (EAGC) and Editor-in-Chief of the EAGC Book series, of which this text is the second volume in the series. Dr. Bösze is a practicing clinician performing radical surgery in gynecologic oncology including breast cancer and has been engaged in clinical research for several decades. He has published approximately 500 scientific papers, reviews, book chapters, editorials and abstracts. He has written or edited 6 books and is the founding Editor-in-Chief of 3 journals including the CME Journal of Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Bösze is the Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Gynaecological Oncology and Regional Editor of the European Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Biology. He has also served on numerous editorial boards. Dr. Bösze is currently Consultant in the Saint Stephen Hospital and teaching Professor of the Semmelweis University in Budapest. He has board certification in OB/GYN, Genetics and Radiotherapy. He was the chairman of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at the National Institute of Oncology with responsibility of 1500 chemotherapy treatments and 1000 intracavitary radiation applications yearly, in addition to a large radical surgical oncology service.
Dr. Maurie Markman is Vice President for Clinical Research at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. For more than 20 years Dr. Markman has been engaged in clinical research in the area of gynecologic malignancies, with a particular focus on new drug development and exploring novel management strategies in female pelvic cancers. Dr. Markman has been the primary author, or co-author, on more than 800 published peer-reviewed manuscripts, reviews, book chapters, editorials or abstracts, and he has edited or co-edited 10 books on various topics in the management of malignant disease, including Atlas of Oncology and the most recent edition of Principles and Practice of Gynecologic Oncology. In addition, Dr. Markman has served on numerous editorial boards, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology, and he is the North American Editor of the Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology. Dr. Markman is currently Chairman of the Medical Oncology Committee of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), the United States National Cancer Institute-sponsored cooperative group focused on the management of female pelvic malignancies.
